Gill
Cullwick
Gill first joined
the Scuba Trust in 1998 after being refused
by several local dive schools to teach her
to dive because of her disability. Having
successfully completed her PADI Open Water
that year, there has been no stopping her.
Gill is totally hooked
on diving and in 1999, became a Trustee
of the Trust. Her main aim is to give other
disabled people the same chance to dive
and enjoy the underwater world.
In October 2004 Gill
qualified as a PADI Divemaster. |
Andy
Wood
Andy has been one of our Trustees since 2005.
He has taken over from Debbie as the Scuba

 Pippa Ashley
I joined the Scuba Trust as a helper in 2004 and took my Open Water qualification in 2006. I have assisted on 3 holidays to Egypt and thoroughly enjoyed all of them (even having a birthday meal of McDonalds in Sharm El Sheikh).
I live in a small village in Buckingham and was a completely normal, run of the mill person until I was taken to a try-dive by my friend Carol Illing. Once I went underwater I was hooked. I became a diving nut. I have also set up a Scuba Trust group on Facebook and uploaded several photographs of Scuba Trust events on there. |
Danny
Crates Danny
has been a Trustee since 2002. As professional
athlete, he has won European gold medals in
400m and holds a Olympic Bronze medal from
the Paralympic Games in Sydney in 2000. Danny
is also a PADI Instructor. On
25th Sept 2004, Danny achieved his goal
by winning the Gold medal in the 800m at
the Paralympic Games in Athens. |
James
Davenport
James is one of the original Scuba Trust
members, joining them in 1996. He started
diving in 1991 when he qualified as a BSAC
Novice 2 diver. Since then, James has worked
his way up the dive career ladder and is
currently in the process of training to
be a PADI Divemaster. |
Alan
Kenny
Alan is an IAHD diver. He's been diving since
2001 and is a regular on the Scuba Trust trips
abroad. He completed his first UK cold water
dive at Horsea Island in 2003. Alan is a qualified
modern dance teacher and can often be found
at Causeway Stadium supporting Wycombe Wanders
FC. |
Rikki
Singh
Rikki is one of the original members of the
ScubaTrust and was a trustee from 1996 to
2005. A sports journalist in the "day
job" he learnt to dive in 1995 when Scuba
Trust founder member, Leon Golding, phoned
his editor asking if there were any disabled
journalists who wanted to learn to dive -
the editor volunteered Rikki!!!
After
completing the PADI Open Water course, Rikki,
a confirmed warm water diver, has dived
in the Red Sea, Spain, the Seychelles and
the Caymans. Rikki has recently taken up
air pistol shooting and has set himself
the target (pardon the pun) of one day competing
in the Paralympics |

Debbie
Brinkley
Debbie first learnt
to dive in Australia in 1999 and instantly
became hooked. However it was only after she
met her boyfriend during a trip to the Red
Sea that she was convinced to try diving in
the UK. Since then Debbie has completed her
Dive Master qualification and dives regularly
in the UK and abroad. Debbie became involved
in the Scuba Trust in 2002. |
Dave
Mileham
After being involved
in a road traffic accident in 1999 and no
longer being able to instruct motorbiking
for the Institute of Advanced Motoring. I
returned to scuba diving after a gap of over
30 years. Passing my Open Water in September
2002. I also help at a disabled sports club,
and help coach with the Air Weapons with Alan
Kenny. The Scuba Trust has given me another
great interest which I hope to continue to
do for as long as possible. |
Julie
Kaye
Julie started diving
in 2000 and qualified as a PADI Rescue Diver
in 2001. She regularly dives in the UK. Julie
joined the Scuba Trust in 2001 and has since

J
P Trenque
Originally from France,
JP has been living in England for 10 years.
He started diving in 1980 and qualified as
a PADI instructor in 1999.
After discovering the Scuba Trust in 2000,
he and his wife Jane Morgan enrolled on an
IAHD instructor course with Fraser Bathgate
in 2001 to learn more about adaptive techniques
for diving with disabilities.
Having recently discovered underwater photography,
JP and Jane now spend a lot of their diving
time taking pictures. |
Karen
Barnett
Karen learnt to dive
six years ago in the Maldives, while on holiday.
Enjoying herself so much that she took her
advanced course straight way, on the same
two week holiday and her rescue qualification
just three months after in Grenada in the
West Indies.
I met Andy Wood by a chance encounter at a
Health Club he was teaching at and started
to Dive Master for him in October of 2002.
I took the plunge in the UK for the first
time, made my first visit to the infamous
Scapa Flow and discovered the amazing diving
of the red sea, Cuba and Bonaire (the Dutch
Antilles). I also started to join Andy in
his work with the Scuba Trust, and the rest
as they say, is history! |
