The
Scuba Trust uses a swimming pool in Lord Mayor
Treloar National Specialist College, which is
in Alton in Hampshire as the main training base
and we organise "try-dive" sessions
there once a month.
However, as a national charity we also
organise "try-dives" upon request for
disabled individuals and organisations around
the UK.
Furthermore, if you are unable to come to Alton
for scuba training we will endeavour to put you
in touch with an instructor in your area.
At
The Scuba Trust we feel very strongly that the
training should be run at a pace that the student
is comfortable with, and should be in a small
group, or in many cases on a one-to-one basis
with the instructor.
As with all able-bodied people, every potential
student with a disability has to undergo a medical
examination before they are allowed to take a
course, there are no hard and fast rules about
which disabilities can or cannot take a course.
Every case is treated on its merits.
However, The Scuba Trust reserves the right to
refuse a try-dive or a scuba-diving course if
we feel that an individual is unsuitable, medically
or otherwise.
